Pendits Holdvögy Tokaji 2006
Tasting Notes : 100% furmint, organic and biodynamically farmed on the Holdvögy vineyard, 14% vol. A beautifully clear honey-golden in the glass. Peace, awe, relaxation, rolling green meadows in the Spring … I’m nearing the boiling point on over-embellishment, I’m fully aware and I try to avoid these types of tasting notes at all cost. But when one is inspired by a wine, I say go for it! This wine screams of terroir and personification of place. There are elegant aromas of freshly cut herbs and grass. The nose is purely non-interventionist, hedonistic and expressive of nature’s beauty and complex simplicity. After a few minutes the high alcohol content brings out some highly perfumed scents of eau de toilette. Admittedly not as inspiring in the mouth but still very enoyable. There is a smooth texture, a vibrant acidity and a good balance in this medium-bodied, dry wine. More fresh herbs, maybe even rosemary, come out through the mid-palate, as well as bitter citrus fruits and green apple. The finish is subtle and pleasant.
