2004 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino
Appellation: Brunello di Montalcino
Tasting Notes: 100% Sangiovese. 15% Pretty dark violet in the glass with a bit of copper around the edges. Nose is blueberry, leather, some earth. Big fruit on the nose. The attack is red and dark fruit (comes across to me as blueberries, but YMMV.) Tobacco, smoke, earthiness. Nicely structured tannins, nice acid. Wonderfully balanced and complex. Medium body, long finish. Outstanding. Everything that is good and right with Italian wine. Young, needs to decant to smooth out the edges.
Price: Unknown, was a gift. Cellartrakcer has it around $69
