2008 Bricco Dei Tati Piemonte Barbera
Appellation: Piemonte (Italy)
Tasting Notes: 100% Barbera. 12.5% ABV. Right off the bat, this is everything I love about Italian wine. It’s inexpensive, it’s unpretentious, and it’s delicious. The nose is tight, just a little dusty fruit coming through. The attack is all fruit, then the wine grows up with more of that dustiness. It tastes fresh, but has that old world sensibility. Very well balanced, dry. Very food friendly, this is one of the better Wednesday night pizza wines you’ll find; and it could stand up to more fancy Italian fare. (I paired it with a grilled pork loin chop, and it went very well.) I’m glad I have another bottle of this to share.
Price: Around $10.
