2009 Cono Sur “Visión Gewürztraminer” Casablanca Valley
Tasting Notes : 100% Gewürztraminer, single vineyard “El Marco Estate, Las Colmenas” (sandy with clay), aged 5 months in SS, 13.2% vol., 8.3 g/l residual sugar, 3.31 pH, 6.9 g/l total acidity. Straw yellow in the glass. A bright, acidic, tropical and flowery nose of apricots, pineapple, peach, mango and subtle hints of banana. It’s a little reminiscent of a Bath & Body Works. In the mouth this wine is smooth, creamy and silky with a pronounced acidity and tartness, very different from the lower acidity found in an Alsacian Gewürztraminer. There are flavors of citrus fruits, litchi, peach, lemon, and grapefruit bitterness. Although a dry wine the straight-forward fruitiness provides for a nice sweet balance.
