2007 Staatsweingut Weinsberg “Lemberger Trocken”
Appellation: Württemberg, Germany (QbA)
Tasting Notes: 100% Lemberger, 13% ABV.  Dark violet in the glass.  Rich, ripe black fruits and herbaceousness on the nose with notes of sweet ginger spices, pine, cassis, and blackberries.  A subtle bitterness and a juicy acidity in the mouth, this wine is fairly well-balanced, expressing silky tannins and a medium body.  There are flavors of ripe red and black fruits, blackberries, dark chocolate, and some green herbs and spices.
Rating: 14/20
Price: ~15€
Anecdote: This was a gift from Franzi, my hallmate buddy.  She brought it back to Paris upon her return from Germany where she spent a week with the parents.  This is her family’s common everyday wine.  It is produced by German’s state wine producer, “Staatsweingut”.  MERCI ENCORE FRANZI!  Moi je l’ai bien aimé … 🙂
