2009 Vina y Bordegas Estacion Chardonnay
Appelation: Pamilla – Cochagua Valley, Chile
Tasting Notes: 100% Chardonnay. 14% ABV. Light gold color. Nose is butter, some oak, lemon, and an unidentifiable herb or floral component, not much but there’s something there. Nice fruit, with some melon along with the citrus. Good acid, hot on the back end, you can also taste the oak, but it’s not too much for my palate, some herbal flavors. Complex, there are lots of flavors, but none really stand out. Nice mouthfeel, lingering finish. The heat on the back end is a little unpleasant, but not horrible. Some food will calm it down, I think some sautéed chicken with risotto will work nicely. Pretty good stuff. I wouldn’t expect this to be ageworthy, but maybe some time would cut the heat back a bit. Pretty good value.
